• Source documents. Most of what we cite came from a records request or a public filing, and we can send you the original rather than our summary of it.
• Interviews. Council officers speak on the record about UVA governance, records access, the Honor System, and intellectual diversity in higher education.
• Data. Our records log and research figures, with methodology.

How to describe us

The Jefferson Council is a 501(c)(3) organisation of University of Virginia alumni founded in 2020. It publishes original reporting and research on governance, spending, free expression, intellectual diversity, and the Honor System at UVA. It is funded by individual donations and receives no funding from the University or the Commonwealth.

Corrections

If we have published something inaccurate, tell us and we will correct it in public, on the piece, with a note saying what changed. We would rather hear it from you than not hear it.
